CartPlate
Guide

Save recipes from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube

Tap Share on the post, then pick CartPlate. It reads the caption, the voiceover and the text on screen, and in about 30 seconds the recipe is in your Cookbook: ingredients with amounts, steps, macros per serving, and the creator’s handle with a link back. Facebook and recipe websites work the same way.

TikTok

CartPlate reads the caption, and the video itself: what’s said and what’s written on screen.

On iPhone and Android

  1. Tap Share on the video.
  2. Swipe the row of apps and tap More.
  3. Tap CartPlate.

Instagram

CartPlate reads a reel’s caption and its video. For a photo post it reads the caption only: if the recipe is in the photos, take screenshots and import those.

On iPhone

  1. Tap Share under the reel.
  2. Tap Share to…
  3. Tap CartPlate.

On Android

  1. Tap Share under the reel.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap CartPlate.

YouTube

CartPlate reads the title and description, and watches the video itself, Shorts and full-length alike, up to 45 minutes.

On iPhone and Android

  1. Tap Share under the video.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap CartPlate.

Facebook

CartPlate reads a reel’s or video’s description, and the video itself.

On iPhone

  1. Tap Share on the reel or video.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap CartPlate.

On Android

  1. Tap Share on the reel or video.
  2. Tap More options.
  3. Tap CartPlate.

Recipe websites

CartPlate reads the page’s recipe card, or its text when it has none, from the page as you see it.

On iPhone

  1. Open the recipe in Safari.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Tap CartPlate.

CartPlate reads the recipe from the page you're on.

On Android

  1. Tap ⋮ in Chrome, then Share.
  2. Tap CartPlate.

CartPlate opens the page and reads the recipe.

Don’t see CartPlate?

On iPhone: tap More, and it's in the list. On Android: scroll the list of apps. You can pin CartPlate to the top.

Or copy the post’s link, tap + in CartPlate, then Paste and Import recipe.

What you get

An import takes about 30 seconds. You can leave: it’ll be in your Cookbook when it’s done.

  • Ingredients with amounts, and the steps in order
  • Calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving, for every ingredient
  • An amount the creator didn’t say, estimated, marked Check, and free to fix
  • The creator’s handle, and a link back to the post
  • A post you saved before opens as Already in your Cookbook

What it can’t read

Only public posts import

  • Private or friends-only posts. If you can see one, screenshots of it work.
  • Age-restricted posts
  • Stories
  • A video past 45 minutes whose description doesn’t hold the recipe

Is importing free?

Your first recipe is yours to keep, and the free plan saves 2 more imports a month. An import that fails doesn’t count. Pro imports every recipe you save.

Importing uses Google’s Gemini to read the post, with your OK the first time.
